Happy Half Birthday Athena! The past six months have been by far the best of our lives and time has passed so quickly. During the last six months Athena has brought so much joy and laughter to our lives. Some may lament the difficulties of raising a new born but Jennie and I have been blessed with Athena, who is a calm and happy baby. She is not without challenges, but the overwhelming amount of happiness that she brings us, far out weighs any of the struggles.

During the past month she has been introduced to many more solid foods, mostly single grain cereals, vegetables, and some fruits. This past month she also had her first sips of water. The faces thats he makes when we introduce her to a new food vary wildly from sad inquisitiveness to hyperactive pucker faces with some of the more tart fruits.

 

On March 8th Athena awoke eagerly babbling off some consonant sounds. Jennie and I listened along as she apparently had a conversation with her self. This was the first time we had heard her make sounds like these so you can only imagine the excitement  Jennie and I had.

 

Athena has grown steadily and her face continues to change. Some think that Im exaggerating when I say that her face changes day by day. Sometimes the baby I come home to is not the same one that I left in the morning for work. At her 6 month doctor’s appointment she weighed 20lbs 1oz and measured 28 inches long. In the 99th percentile!

Today we had the chance to do a mini photo shoot with our little half birthday girl. Jennie commissioned a custom made half birthday cake in the form of a Willy Wonka Hat. The Willy Wonka there for this photo shoot is a precursor for the planned Willy Wonka theme for Athena’s first birthday celebration.
